Rain and cold weather always seems to lurk in the background in April as winter-hardened Swedes urge the onset of spring. Winter clothes remain at the ready as the rain and cold can strike at any time.

The Swedish meteorological agency SMHI has however brought from good news to the long suffering Scandinavians with the latest forecast promising a little seasonal light and warmth.

"No, there will be no heat shock. But it will be sunny and warmer with temperatures above freezing. It will also however bring north-westerly winds, with a little less hot air," said SMHI meteorologist Marisol Huaman.

SMHI predicts balmy highs of around nine degrees across many parts of the country over the weekend and into next week. Rain will be on hold for a bit although some clouds may loom in northern areas.

Any prospect of real spring/summer heat remains a somewhat distant prospect however.

"It Is quite stable from Saturday, Sunday and Monday and the start of next week. The rain is moving away and we are set to get slightly more pleasant temperatures," Huaman said.
