Two thirds of those asked said they were satisfied with their appearance, and 7.5 percent said they were "very" satisfied. Only four percent said they didn’t like their appearance “at all”.

Around 50 percent considered physical appearance to be “important”.

About 39 percent of women and 28 percent of men said that their appearance was an important part of their identity. Only ten percent thought it was unimportant.

Despite being generally pleased with their appearance 66 percent said they had considered changing something about their body.

68 percent of women used cosmetics on a daily basis to improve their appearance - and 40 percent of men said they did the same.

The majority of women said they took between ten and 20 minutes making themselves look good before leaving the house, and the majority of men said they only needed ten minutes.

600 people of all ages took part in the study, 80 percent were women and only 20 percent were men. More than half of those questioned lived in urban areas.
