This weekend you should dig out those sunglasses from the back of the wardrobe, because spring has really arrived – with up to 15C expected in parts of Sweden on Sunday.

“Not another article about the weather,” you may say. But after one of the greyest winters Sweden has ever experienced (Stockholm had the least sun hours in November since records started in 1908), it looks like spring has finally sprung.

“If you like sun and high temperatures you will have a nice Sunday,” meteorologist Emil Björck at the Swedish weather institute SMHI told news wire TT.

“It's not impossible that the east coast could see temperatures of up to 15C,” he added.

The warm weather will arrive on Saturday already, but clouds will dampen hopeful sunbathers' spirits. But on Sunday, the sun will peek out from behind the clouds and according to SMHI you can expect temperatures of between 5-15C, depending on where in Sweden you're based.

And readers have been sending us loads of pictures proving that spring has reached their areas. Here's one emailed in by Vaishnavi Tangirala showing that the famous cherry blossoms in the Kungsträdgården park in Stockholm have started to bud.
