Authorities in the southern French city of Nice have launched an urgent witness appeal to try to identify two children found wandering around a train station by a homeless man last week.

Police are desperately trying to find out how two children ended up alone and in tears at the railway station in Nice on Wednesday February 26th.

The children were found by a homeless man who alerted officials.

The pair are aged between two and four-years-old and are of African origin.

The girl can speak only a few words of French but the young boy does not speak at all. The girl has been named Laticha and the boy Roy and according to authorities they are both in good health.
