Just three days after a strike by the baggage crew, SAS's cabin personnel has now walked out on the job leading to a fresh round of flight cancellations on Friday.

SAS cabin personnel went on strike Friday morning in protest over the airline’s plan to move employees to a more cost-effective collective bargaining agreement after its takeover of Cimber airlines.

SAS plans to move around 140 cabin personnel to the Cimber brand, which would also entail putting the employees under a cheaper bargaining agreement.

Industry analysts had already predicted back in December, shortly after the Cimber takeover, that SAS employees might react by going on strike

Those predictions came true Friday morning as the cabin personnel union CAU announced that SAS workers would walk off the job.

By noon Friday, the walkout had already caused four cancelled flights.

SAS spokeswoman Trine Kromann-Mikkelsen confirmed the strike, which she characterized as illegal.

The strike by cabin personnel comes just three days after SAS baggage workers held their third strike in eight months. The SAS Ground Handling strike lasted around two hours, creating cancellations and delays.

SAS said that passengers affected by the new strike would be contacted directly by the airline.
