007 is latest victim of Rome's famous potholes
Daniel Craig became a victim of Rome's notorious potholes this week while shooting the latest James Bond film, hitting his head on the roof of his sports car, Italian media reported on Thursday.
The British star was acting out a scene in central Rome when the Aston Martin is believed to have run into a pothole, film crew told La Repubblica.
After hitting his head Craig was checked over by a doctor and was given the all-clear, agreeing to have his photo taken with medics.
That 007 appears to have been temporarily taken out by a pothole hit a nerve with Romans, who have long-since lamented the terrible state of roads in the capital.
Lamberto Santini, the president of consumer rights group Adoc, joined in the chorus of discontent. “The streets of Rome are a danger each day for pedestrians, cyclists, drivers and motorcyclists that seriously risk hurting themselves,” he told La Repubblica.
“The potholes are able to put James Bond out of use, let alone common citizens,” Santini said.
The sports car bump is just the latest problem faced by the 007 crew, with a report earlier this week that Rome’s potholes and cobblestones were too far too noisy. The roar of the Roman streets is due to be taken out in post-production.
