Sweden’s football star Zlatan Ibrahimovic was in fine form when he put a reporter through his paces during a post-match interview over the weekend, a video of which has since racked up more than a million hits.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker, who is not known for his lack of confidence, told a reporter: “Do you know better than me? Do you know football better than me? Then why are you talking about it?” in an interview following his side's 1-0 victory over Rennes.

Zlatan, who was this week voted Sweden's top male hero in a YouGov poll, then went on to slam the reporter’s credentials, asking why he did not have his own camera man with him. “So it is low-budget?” mocked the footballer.

With more than a million views on YouTube by Tuesday afternoon, the film has become a hit on social media in recent days with criticism and applause flooding in in equal measure.

One YouTube user commented: “Bravo, Zlatan, bravo. And to the people who call him arrogant, well, you are right, but he is a human too and has the right to say what he wants and act the way he wants. If you don’t like him as a role model, don’t make him your role model. “

It is not the first time that Zlatan’s comments have landed him in hot water. When an Italian female reporter dared to question him on his sexuality he said: “Come to my house and you’ll see if I’m gay. Bring your sister.”

And when asked what he was planning on giving his wife for her birthday he famously replied: “Nothing, she already has Zlatan.”
