The package was discovered at about 9:30am on Friday morning on the front doorsteps of the daily newspaper.

Nearby Kyrkogatan, Nygatan and parts of Kungsbacka Square were cordoned off by local police at about 10:00am, who investigated vehicles in the area, amid fears that it could contain a dangerous object, possibly a bomb.

A local bomb squad directed a robot to blow up the suspect package shortly after noon, later revealing that it simply contained leafy green plants.

After discovering the package, editor-in-chief Elizabeth Blide decided to vacate the newspaper's premises.

She told The Local that the newspaper would continue to work with the police to determine why exactly the package was left there.

"Everything is okay at the moment, but we still have to look at this," she said. "I just want to be sure."

Norra Halland reported that it had not received any threats in connection to the package.

Barricades have been removed and residents in the area and Norra Halland staff have returned to their premises.
