A nurse in southern Sweden has been given the all clear, after she was feared to have contracted Ebola during her time in Sierra Leone.

The woman was admitted to Skåne University Hospital in Lund on Sunday.

"A specialist team saw to her during the night, they said she is healthy and doesn't have any signs of being infected by the Ebola virus," explained hospital spokeswoman Louise Ercolino.

"She has been given the green light to leave the hospital. The infection clinic will carry out some follow ups now," she told TT.

There have been a handful of Ebola scares in Sweden since the disease broke out. As yet, no Swedes have been found to have actually contracted Ebola.

The World Health Organization reports that the disease has claimed 7,500 lives so far - the vast majority in western Africa.

Sweden is among the world leaders when it comes to lending financial aid in the fight against Ebola, so far donating 550 million kronor ($69 million).
