A tour bus bound for Copenhagen has flipped over on a motorway in west Sweden, leaving one dead and forty others taken to the hospital.
A bus traveling from Sweden to Copenhagen was in a serious accident just before 7.30am on Thursday on Sweden’s Motorway 27, which is south of Tranemo in the west of the country.
Emergency services were immediately called to the scene to tend to the injured and police later confirmed that one person died as a result of their injuries.
The bus was carrying 52 passengers: 20 were taken to a hospital in Tranemo, while 20 others "with less serious injuries or just shock" were taken by ambulance to a hospital in Borås, a press spokesperson for west Sweden police told The Local.

Two people were trapped inside the bus for more than an hour before emergency services were able to get them out. Rescue workers at the scene described the accident as "extremely serious."

West Sweden police said that there were no reports of Danes on the bus. According to Swedish newspaper Borås Tidning, the bus was headed for Copenhagen.
"This is serious. Several people are injured. We are working non-stop and have a lot of back up on the way," Anders Johansson, chief of staff for the local rescue services told the Borås Tidning newspaper.
He added to the TT news agency; "It's too early to say what the injury situation is but we have great resources in place."
