House DJ Avicii was the most streamed artist on Spotify in his home country in 2014, according to new figures released by the Swedish music giant.

For the second year in a row, the Stockholm-born star has topped Spotify's annual streaming chart. His tracks are more popular with Swedish music fans than those by any other artist.
 
His hit Wake Me Up, has been played more than 307 million times. Tracks Hey Brother and Levels have both been streamed more than 100 million times.
 
Avicii, whose real name is Tim Bergling, was born in 1989 and only started making music when he was 18. The star is now one of the world's biggest house DJs.
 
Other global dance music icons dominate Spotify's list of most-played artists in Sweden, with France's David Guetta, the UK's Calvin Harris and US star Eminem also in the top ten. 
 
Swedish stars Håkan Hellström, Kent and Veronica Maggio also made the list.
 
Avicii ranked number six on Spotify's list of most-played artists globally, with Britain's Ed Sheeran taking the top spot.
 
Sheeran also tops the list of the most played songs in Sweden, with his hit 'I see fire'. 
 
The highest placed Swedish song on the list is Albin's 'Din soldat' or 'Your Soldier' in English.
 
The most played track on Spotify in the world in 2014 was 'Happy' by Pharell Williams.
