The 2015 edition Michelin hotel and restaurant guide for Switzerland, to go on sale on Thursday, lists a record number of 117 gourmet restaurants with at least one star, 18 more than the previous year.

“The Swiss gastronomy is particularly dynamic and the offer is one of great diversity,” Michael Ellis, international director of Michelin Guides said in a news release.

The two restaurants judged by Michelin inspectors to be the best in Switzerland retain their three-star ranking: L’Hotêl de Ville in the village of Crissier in the canton of Vaud, and Schauenstein in Fürstenau in the canton of Graubünden.

A total of 19 two-star restaurants retain their ranking for another year while the number of one-star establishments has risen from to 96, including 18 receiving the honour for the first time.

Zurich’s Maison Maness and Sankt Meinrad are among the new one-star restaurants, along with Les Quatre Saisons in Basel and Damien Germanier in Sion, the capital of Valais.

Fourteen of the new one-star restaurants are in German-speaking regions of Switzerland, while three are in francophone areas and one in Italian-speaking Ticino (Tentazioni in Cavigliano).
