Sweden have named injured star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic in their squad for the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifier with Montenegro and a friendly with France.

Ibrahimovic has not played since September 21st because of a nagging heel problem but his coach at Paris Saint-Germain, Laurent Blanc, said last week that the 33-year-old was on the road to recovery.

"His participation does of course depend on his injury healing," read a statement released by the Swedish football federation on Monday.

"Zlatan is positive and I am hopeful that he will train this week and play for PSG before the qualifiers but we will wait and see," said Sweden coach Erik Hamren.

Later on Tuesday, however, the coach revealed that Ibrahimovic would miss Wednesday night's Champions League match against APOEL.

Blanc said the Swede was "not far away, but he's missing something".

"It's an injury that is not muscular, so he has had to work it a lot," Blanc said.

"He's lacking competition and has lost contact with the ball, but physically he's not lost much."

Blanc, with one eye on Sunday's Ligue 1 match against Marseille, added: "If that damn pain went away, he could be very competitive very quickly."

Sweden are third in Euro 2016 qualifying Group G with five points from three games, one point above Montenegro before the teams clash in Podogorica on Saturday, November 15th.

They then face France in a friendly on November 18th at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is Sweden's top goal scorer and was recently nominated for FIFA's prestigious Golden Ball or Ballon d'Or prize.
