Sweden's Zlatan tipped for Golden Ball prize

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has again been nominated for one of the most prestigious awards in football, FIFA's Ballon d'Or or Golden Ball prize.

The Sweden and PSG star is one of 23 players nominated for the prize.

The FIFA Ballon d'Or is awarded each year to the player considered to be best in the world over the last 12 months.

It s voted for by professional footballers and coaches as well as journalists.

Rivals for the award include Portugal and Real Madrid player Cristiano Ronaldo, who picked up the prize last year and Wales and Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale.

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi, who has already won the award three times, is also on the shortlist, alongside his team-mate Neymar.

Zlatan's career in pictures

World Cup winners Germany have the most players nominated (six). Spain and Argentina each have three. Belgium and France have two nominations.

A final list of three players will be compiled after the team captains and coaches in FIFA's member countries vote on the nominations.

Ibrahimovic has been struggling with a heel injury recently and has missed several games.
