Four-year-old Norway girl sleepwalks 4km

A young child was found alone and wearing only her pants and boots early Monday morning in Finnmark, North Norway after sleepwalking from her home for over four kilometres.
The four-year-old girl was found in Hjellplassen, Honningsvåg at around 6am. On her journey she walked along a motorway and through an 800-metre long tunnel, before she sat down on a staircase outside of a house in Honningsvåg. A person passing by called the police.
West-Finnmark police department released a statement that said: “We received a call at around 6.15am that an under-dressed four-year-old girl was found wearing only her underwear and boots. She had been sleepwalking, but was in good health.”
Local police have been in touch with the girl’s family and found out she is a regular sleepwalker. The child was staying with her older sister at their aunt's house. The aunt said to VG: “They asked me if I was the one looking after the girl and if I was with her. I ran in to her bedroom and was shocked when I saw that she wasn't in her bed.” According to her auntie, the girl told she dreamt that the house was on fire and got out of bed, put on her boots, opened the locked main door and walked out of the house - all of it while asleep. Police chief Jan-Olav Schjølberg said to Finnmark Dagblad: “According to those who know the girl, she sleepwalks sometimes. But it's a bit special she managed to walk so far.” The girl was four to five kilometres from home when she was found. That weekend there has been storm with a powerful wind and also cold temperatures. Schjølberg added: “It's incredible that she managed to walk so far, but it was early in the morning with little traffic in the area.”
