Museum celebrates polls with whale wordplay

The word "val" in Swedish can mean either election or whale - and staff over at the Gothenburg Natural History Museum plan to celebrate this weekend's "whale day" in unusual style.
This Sunday is a valdagen, meaning "election day", and flocks of Swedes are expected to head to the polling booths to have their voice heard. But the folks at one Gothenburg museum have pointed out that Sunday can also mean "whale day". Yes, the Natural History Museum in Gothenburg, a city famous for wordplay and bad puns, is giving visitors the rare opportunity to enter the mouth of its 150-year-old blue whale on Sunday. Kids will also be given the chance to vote on which animal should spend the next four years as chairperson (chairanimal?) of the museum's children's club. The candidates? The wolf, the owl, the Nile crocodile, the earthworm, a shark, or the killer whale - which would incidentally mark its second term in office. Kids can also climb in the mouth of the whale on Sunday only, and whale meat will be served in the restaurant.
