Saying it wants to end things with a bang, the festival announced that it is changing its schedule beginning in 2015.

Although summer 2014 came to a close just days ago, summer 2015 is already well on the minds of the nation’s music fans.

A day after the announcement of a new music festival in Odense that will take place in June, the Roskilde Festival made waves on Wednesday by announcing that it will change its schedule.

Beginning in 2015 the festival will push everything forward by a day, meaning that the main musical portion will now run from Wednesday to Saturday rather than Thursday to Sunday as in years past.

“We want to end on a high note, and Saturday is definitely the peak of the week. That means that you can pack down and head back home on Sunday and be ready for whatever you’re doing the following week,” organisers announced via a press release.

The scrapping of music on Sunday not only means fewer hangovers for those returning to work on Monday, it also puts an end to Roskilde’s tradition of offering free Sunday admission to senior citizens.

“Leaving out the final Sunday is also a goodbye to the free Sunday entrance for +65-year-olds. We still welcome everybody regardless of age to the festival, but everyone has to pay the entrance fee,” the festival wrote.

Roskilde will face new competition in 2015 in the form of Tinderbox, a three-day Odense festival that will take place just one week before Roskilde begins. Unlike Roskilde, Tinderbox will not offer camping options for festival guests.
