The 52-year-old has already been up to the roof of the State Opera House, to see where he will be shooting action scenes. He was mobbed by excited fans as he returned to his limo, but was happy to sign autographs and pose for photos.

Filming will begin on Saturday, and the opera scenes will be shot at night. Other filming venues are being kept secret.

Cruise, a self-confessed fan of Vienna, will be in the city for ten days, along with his co-stars Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner.

There will be some road and tram stop closures around the opera house during the shoot. The Wiener Linien said that the tram lines 1, 2, D and 7 will be affected, as will the bus lines 59A and the night bus routes N25, N38, N60, N66, N71, N75, N46, N49 and N6.

The Wiener Linien recommends switching to the U-Bahn if you do need to travel around the Opernring between August 24th and 29th. More details are available on their website.
