Two people died in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern on Monday in a traffic accident caused by Wilma's winds.

On the island of Usedom a van collided against a fallen tree killing the 53 year old driver and the 52 year old passenger. A third passenger was heavily injured. The Wilma storm advanced at 90 km an hour with strong gale-forced winds.

In the Mecklenburg Lake region, about 20 sailors and kayakers, who had underestimated the waves, were rescued. The kayaks of three students and three adults capsized. On another lake, a sailboat tipped over.

Germany's northern coastal region and high mountains can expect strong stormy gusts of winds. During the day north of the highlands and on the edge of the Alps isolated thunderstorms with stormy gusts of wind are predicted.

The front is also responsible for the Germany-wide cooling trend.
