Police have nabbed their suspect in the case of a young woman who made a pair of salacious movies in a church in her village in Upper Austria.

The head of a parish in Hörsching Upper Austria, Bernhard Pauer, made an official complaint of desecration, after two porn films were shot in his church in June.  Local youths had seen the films on the Internet, and informed their local priest. The parish is now considering how to reinstate the dignity of the church.

"The sacraments which were celebrated in the past few weeks in the parish church are still considered valid," the diocese said in a statement.

'The church does not have to be reconsecrated ... The presence of God cannot be driven out by sin,' Pauer told the Kurier daily.

After the complaint, police have been taking a very close look at the star of the films, who calls herself Babsi, is 24-years-old, and comes from Upper Austria.

She was born in Poland but moved to Austria with her family as a child. Her new 'church films' have become an internet hit.

The young woman was reported for denigration of religious teachings (section §188 StGB of the Austrian criminal code).  In the event of her conviction, she is at risk of up to six months imprisonment or a fine of up to 360 daily payments - the latter being based on her assessed income.

The incident became public knowledge in June, when the parish filed the complaint. The woman is alleged to have shot two films in the church, and made them available to download on the internet.

"We have identified a suspect. She has already been questioned and has made a full confession," said National Police Directorate spokesman David Furtnerteich.

During their painstaking investigation, police talked to several porn scene insiders, and asked if they knew of the woman.

"She wanted to be deliberately provocative, and hoped to thereby draw attention to herself in the porn industry," they said.

Police said that, after close examination of the videos in question, they believe the woman did not have a crew or camera person.

According to an independent video production expert, "it was obvious that the woman was acting alone, due to shaky footage and poor camera movement choices, and the lighting aesthetics were definitely also questionable."
