A 44-year-old man who was shot in the head in Copenhagen’s Nørrebro district is in stable condition, police say.

According to Copenhagen Police spokesman Gunnar Nørager, the man was at home in his flat in Nørrebro’s Blågårds Plads, when someone knocked on his door. When the man opened the door, he was shot once in the head and once in the leg.

Police say there were five people on hand during the shooting incident and investigators are now looking for witnesses.

The shooting victim was able to walk to the ambulance under his own power and communicate with officers.

“He is in hospital now, and the message is that his condition is stabile,” Nørager told TV2 News on Saturday evening.

Police do not believe the shooting, which occurred just before 8pm on Saturday, was gang-related.
