Between now and autumn the Theresienwiese in the Bavarian capital will be transformed with huge tents representing the city’s breweries, which will go up for the 16-day festival.

The Oktoberfest runs from September 20th to October 5th this year. Just building and taking down one of the huge tents costs €1 million.

For the first time in three decades a new beer tent is also arriving at the festival.

The Marstall tent is replacing the famous Hippodrom tent which will not appear this year after its owner was charged with tax evasion.

The last time there was a new large tent at the festival was in 1984 when the Wine Tent was introduced.
