Poker pro found dead in Slovenia
The body of German professional poker player Johannes Strassmann, who had been missing for six days, has been found in a river in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana, police said on Saturday.
"There were no traces of violence," a police spokesman said after DNA tests confirmed the body, found a day earlier in the Ljubljanica river, was Strassmann's.
Slovenian police had been searching for the Vienna-based Strassmann, 29, who went missing on June 21st after meeting friends in Ljubljana, according to local media.
Strassman, the founder of an online poker school, earned over €1.4 million since becoming a professional player in 2006, according to Pokerpages website.
Pokernews reported that Strassmann, who reportedly won €200,000 in a week in June, was in Ljubljana to meet a group of players whom he had been coaching.
A Facebook group was been set up to help find him.
Strassmann was originally from Bonn but lived in Vienna.
