Two men pretending to be police officers stopped a driver near Magdeburg in central Germany on Wednesday, claiming he was speeding, and drove off in his car.

The men put blue lights on their vehicle and pulled the driver over on the A2 motorway near the exit for Lostau.

Dressed in civilian clothes and posing as police officers, they asked the driver to get out and told him he was speeding, police said on Wednesday.

One of the men then jumped in the stopped driver's car and drove off, while the second man sped off in the “police” car.

The victim was stranded without a vehicle.
