Couple on scooter abduct six-year-old girl

A couple in their 30s have been arrested in south-eastern Italy after allegedly abducting a six-year-old girl from a town square and driving away with her on a scooter, Italian media reported on Tuesday.
Giovanni Giancane, 38, and his 31-year-old girlfriend Valentina Piccinonno were arrested in their apartment in Monteroni, in the heel of Italy’s boot.
They are accused of abducting a six-year-old girl, who was found unharmed in the apartment, Rai News reported.
The girl was reportedly playing with her brother in a town square when she was approached by Giancane and Piccinonno on a scooter.
The couple then allegedly picked her up and drove off with her, Rai News said.
The girl’s mother was nearby and raised the alarm, after which police were able to use witness statements to trace the couple to their home.
