The rise in property prices has tapered off in the last few weeks, with central Stockholm apartments the only exception to the price of flats stagnating across the country.

New figures from Mäklarstatistik showed that there were relatively few properties on offer, which usually inflates prices on a seller's market. Instead, the month of April saw the price rise slow down.

The average price of a house in Sweden went up by one percent, but the price of apartments stood still - apart from flats in inner-city Stockholm.

"It looked the same across Sweden. there was no market that stood out, neither upwards nor downwards," Lars-Erik Nyqvist, CEO of estate agents Fastighetsbyrån, told the TT news agency.

"There are of course big differences in price, but looking at percentages, both in the big cities and the rest of the country, we saw the same picture, in particular when it came to apartments (bostadsrätter)," he said.

One notable exception was central Stockholm where flat prices went up by one percent in April. Zooming out and looking at prices in the greater Stockholm metropolitan area, however, once again churned up stagnant prices for April.

In Gothenburg the situation was the reverse, as inner-city prices actually decreased while the price of flats across the greater Gothenburg area went up somewhat.
