The S-Bahn driver noticed him lying on the tracks in a tunnel between Yorckstraße and Anhalter Bahnhof stations, in central Berlin. It was initially unclear how old he was.

Police said they believed he was playing on the tracks, before getting hit by a train, but it is unclear exactly when he was hit.

At the beginning of March a 19-year-old man dying while “train surfing” in the Schöneberg area of the city. He reportedly failed to duck while riding on the roof of a train and slammed into a low bridge.

Over Christmas a 15-year-old climbed onto a freight wagon and was electrocuted. He was believed to have been a graffiti artist.
