Seven top Spanish snappers have bagged prizes in this year's Fotociencia awards for uncovering the beauty of science in the unlikeliest of locations. From dead men's fingers to waterproof butterfly wings, The Local brings you the winning images.

Fotociencia is a scientific photography contest organized by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

It aims to bring science and technology closer to people by using artistic vision to illustrate scientific fact.
