Man in twenties charged with raping 92-year-old

A 23-year-old man was charged on Friday with aggravated rape after a reported attack on a woman almost 70 years his senior.
The attack reportedly took place on Christmas Eve in the woman's home in Skaraborg County, western Sweden. The man attempted to initiate intercourse with the elderly woman by assaulting and threatening her, but she managed to lock herself in the bathroom, at which point the man left the premises. He returned soon after, however, and found the woman alone in her bedroom. He then raped her in "a particularly reckless manner", according to the prosecution. The man was previously detained in November in the eastern Swedish town of Gävle on suspicion of rape.
