The relentless storms to France's western Atlantic coastline have wreaked havoc for people and their property, but once divorced of their brutal consequences the rough seas make for an epic, bewildering sight.

Renowned French photographer, filmmaker and specialist in aerial imagery Yann Arthus-Bertrand, best known for his book Earth from Above, has beautifully captured the power of the mother nature as the Atlantic Ocean pounds the French coast.

The helicopter pilot and former Gaël Moncanis and cameraman Bruno Cusa, told France2 TV they have never seen anything like it before.

The footage of the roiling seas and crashing waves is part of his new film, called "Human", which seeks to capture human experience through interviews with people from all walks of life in 60 different countries.

The movie will also include the spectacular aerial photography for which Arthus-Bertrand is renowned.

The film is set to be released in September 2015 to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.

Here is a sneak preview of part of the film, which shows the turbulent seas off the coastline of Finistère, western Brittany.
