The quarterfinals of the Davis Cup tennis competition between Switzerland and Kazakhstan will be held in April at Geneva’s Palexpo convention centre, Swiss Tennis announced on Friday.

The matches will be played in Halle 6 of the convention centre from April 4th to 6th, the national tennis association said on its website.

The site is ideal for the tournament, René Stammbach, head of Swiss Tennis said.

“In Halle 6 of Palexpo we have access to 27,000 square metres of modulable space which can accommodate up to 16,500 spectators,” Stammbach said.

As well, the canton of Geneva has offered its support, he said.

Switzerland advanced to the quarterfinals for the first time in 10 years after defeating Serbia 3-2 last weekend, aided by performances from the country’s top players Stanislas Wawrinka (ranked third in the world) and Roger Federer (ranked eighth), who joined the side at the last minute.

If Switzerland beats Kazakhstan it will head to the semifinals against either Italy (at home) or Great Britain (away).

Tickets for the Davis Cup matches in Geneva will go on sale on Friday February 28th at 8am by telephone at 0900 64 61 64 or on the website: www.swisstennis.ch/daviscup
