Sweden hunts head-chopping Danish poacher
Police in Sweden's south suspect a 36-year-old Dane of poaching, as he left a trail of severed heads behind him after illegally hunting wild boar and red deer.
Swedish police suspect that the Dane has hunted wild boar, deer, fallow deer, and red deer without the required permits. The 36-year-old will also be investigated on the suspicion that he has cut the heads off the animals and left them behind.
The police detained the man on Christmas Day as he was driving home to Denmark on the E65 motorway. The officers found a hunting rifle and the body of a still warm white fallow deer. Law enforcers had been on the look-out for the man for some time, with a string of poaching offences having taken place throughout 2013.

While the Dane was held on remand for a month, he was set free last week as he awaits the prosecutor's decision whether to charge him for several hunting-related offences. The investigation is looking at several points of aggravated hunting crimes.

Police spokeswoman Ewa-Gun Westford told the TT news agency on Monday that investigators still have to analyze seized weapons and other forensic evidence including bullets, computers, and telephones.
