Rimini-based lawyer Lidia Gabellini, 38, was arrested on Thursday over allegations that she bled the accounts of two clients dry and spent the cash on a 4X4 and other luxury goods, ArticoloTre reported.

One of the clients was a homeless man, who miraculously survived being set alight while sleeping on a bench in 2008 and was later awarded €190 million in compensation.

She is also alleged to have stolen €30,000 from a 22-year-old who was left disabled after falling from the roof of his home.

Police, who named the investigation ‘Vampire’, found false bank statements, which the mother-of-one allegedly used to avert suspicion, during a search of the home she shared with her husband, a doctor.
