The storm, which is expected to batter Britain on Sunday night/Monday morning, will hit the Skåne, southern Sweden, and Västra Götaland, western Sweden, regions where the category two warning is in place.

It may be upgraded to a class three warning for the Halland region, western Sweden, where winds are anticipated to be particularly severe.

"One should preferably stay indoors," Lisa Frost, meteorologist with SMHI, told Aftonbladet.

Meanwhile, SVT meteorologist Jannicke Geitskaret said there is a "small risk of hurricane gusts" and said the storm would be at its worst between 6pm to midnight on Sunday.

Britain is preparing for an autumn storm with wind speeds of up to 130 km/h according to the BBC. The rough winds will then move on and are expected to reach southern Sweden later on Sunday.

"There might be difficulties for tall vehicles and branches on smaller trees might snap and blow around," said Sofia Söderberg, meteorologist with the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) to the TT news agency.

The bad weather isn't expected to last very long with the worst of it to pass during Tuesday.

Over the weekend SMHI has issued a weather warning in Norrbotten, northern Sweden, with snowfall of between 10 - 20 centimetres expected.

The lowest temperature of the season so far was recorded in Nikkaluokta, northern Sweden, at minus 21.4C.
