A man dressed as a priest, and carrying a suitcase emblazoned with holy symbols, was arrested while trying to cross the Italian border from France with six kilograms of cocaine.

Francesco Foresta, a 61-year-old from Calabria, had flown from Brazil to Paris with the stash, sealed in leather handbags inside a computer, La Stampa reported.

He then took a train to Lyon, and from there was driven to the Italian border by his 25-year-old Ukrainian girlfriend, a dancer.

He was arrested in the northern alpine town of Frejus by border police, and due to his criminal history, he is reported to have not even attempted to pass himself off as a priest.
