Doctor charged over child sex abuse

A doctor in Stockholm appeared in court on Tuesday to face charges that he sexually abused two boys and filmed the assaults which he has argued were medical examinations.

The alleged offences took place in the medical centre where the doctor worked. He has now been charged with aggravated rape against two boys aged six and eight years old.

The doctor is reported to have touched the boys and performed sexual acts which the prosecutor compared to intercourse. In both January and February of this year the doctor also filmed the alleged assaults on the boys.

In court the doctor denied the charges laid down by the prosecutor and said the recorded films do not show aggravated rape against the children but how he examines them.

However, a consultant in paediatric surgery who has seen the films, which are 12 minutes and two-and-a-half minutes long, will give evidence that medical examinations are not performed in this way.

At the medical centre where the doctor previously worked, police found a total of 1,368 child pornography pictures and 605 films. A total of 94 pictures and 62 films were considered to be serious meaning that the children were exploited in a

particularly reckless way.

The prosecution also includes an additional charge of child pornography and sexual molestation against a girl under 15 years old. There were also several counts of sexual molestation against adult women.

The doctor is also accused of patting women on their behind and making remarks of a sexual nature.

The doctor was arrested and detained in May. The Stockholm county council closed the medical centre earlier this year after it had gone bankrupt in July and deficiencies were found.
