Police in Latina, part of Rome’s Lazio region, have issued 14 arrest warrants against people suspected of bribery and corruption.

They stand accused of paying “a huge sum of money” to staff at the motoring authority for driving licences, the police said in a statement on Wednesday.

A total of 169 people were reported during the investigation, which focused on a “well-established” criminal network in Latina involving both Italians and foreigners.

A total of 50 driving licences and 160 documents issued by the motoring authority have also been seized.
