According to the Ferrari website, the Ferrari 458 Speciale “boasts an array of advanced technical solutions, making it a completely unique model designed for owners looking for an even more focused sports car offering extreme driving emotions.”

Weighing just 1,290 kg, 90 less than the standard 458, it can reportedly sprint from 0 to 60 mph in less than three seconds.

Speaking at a press conference during the motor show, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, Ferrari’s President, also spoke of the importance of maintaining the exclusivity of the Ferrari brand.

“Every minute 95 products from the Ferrari brand are sold around the world. And it’s precisely because of this that our brand will be protected. The value of our cars, for the development of which from now until 2017 we will invest €2 billion, will not be compromised.”

To this end, he said, Ferrari plans to sell no more than 7,000 cars this year and in 2014.

"The waiting list will get longer," he added.

Montezemolo also had a few comments regarding Sebastian Vettel’s victory over Fernando Alonso at Monza at the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday, in the sixth race of the season.

“I don’t like not seeing a Ferrari win in Monza. I offer my compliments to Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull, but we shouldn’t lose – there are still many races. I also offer my thanks to the fans for the effect demonstrated, even if it means a few less cheers for Vettel.”
