The incident took place in Djursholm, north of the capital, on Monday morning. Police were able to arrest the man after he was followed home by parents at the kindergarten.

"Some parents followed the man. After a while the police were able to arrest him," Mats Brännlund, a county spokesperson with the Stockholm police, told the TT news agency.

It is unclear whether the flasher was known to the police previously.

It's not the first time a man in Sweden has made headline for exposing himself to unsuspecting members of the public. A man in Uppsala was prosecuted for the 15th time last month for a string of flashing offences dating back to 1993.

Another man in Sandviken, central Sweden, was warned by authorities last year for masturbating naked on his balcony. Concerned mothers started a petition, which attracted 400 signatures, to demand the man be moved out of his apartment.

According to statistics released by the treatment of offenders (kriminalvård) 16 percent of those charged with indecent exposure between 1973 and 2009 were also later convicted for sex crimes where they had physical contact with the victim.
