The shooting took place around 4.30pm on Monday afternoon outside a health clinic in the Skiftinge neighbourhood. Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots after which around a dozen people were seen fleeing the scene, the Expressen newspaper reported.

The victim is known to be a member of the Black Cobras and has previously been subjected to death threats. Earlier in the year, someone made an attempt on his life by placing a bomb under his car.

The 32-year-old died on the scene in what police believe is a gang-related reprisal.

"That's our assumption. That may change, but for now that's what we think it's about," police spokeswoman Elisabeth Johansson told Expressen.

Police spent the rest of the day on Monday working to assemble clues and witness testimony from residents in the area.

"We're putting together a puzzle. We'd very much like to know what people have seen and heard," police Johansson told the TT news agency.

An forensic investigation took place at the scene of the shooting, but no arrests have been made, according to police.
