New in German cinemas: ‘Elysium’

In the year 2154, there are two classes of people: the wealthy, who live on a luxurious manmade space station called Elysium, and everybody else, who lives on a crowded, dirty, ravaged Earth. In Elysium, the latest sci-fi action film from District 9 director Neill Blomkamp, Matt Damon stars as Max Da Costa, an ex-con on a mission to access the life-saving Med-Pods on the far-off space station. But Jessica Delacourt, a high-ranking government official played by Jodie Foster, will do everything to stop him and the other illegal immigrants trying to reach the vaunted gates of the privileged.
