The group allegedly used the bulldozer to break down the gate of the Ipercoop supermarket at around 3 am on Monday morning, before smashing their way through a metal door and ripping open the safe, Il Sole 24 Ore reported.

Trucks were used to block most entrances, while a mount of earth blocked another, the newspaper said.

The hooded thieves took just a few minutes to carry out the operation, all of which was captured on CCTV now in the hands of the police.
