One Direction's Styles ‘buys Paris penthouse’
To the no doubt delighted squeals of French teenagers, One Direction singer Harry Styles is believed to have bought a penthouse in a chic Paris neighbourhoood. Gallic gossip magazines have wasted no time in speculating the impact of Styles' arrival in the City of Light.
British boy band singer Harry Styles appears to have taken a new direction in life - towards the French capital.
According to British tabloid The Daily Star, the singer has purchased a penthouse in the city’s posh 16th arrondissement in the west of the city.
The singer will join other British stars who have made the move to the City of Light including Pete Doherty, the former frontman of the British bands The Libertines and Babyshambles, who now reportedly lives with US actor Macaulay Culkin.
Known as the “Kensington and Chelsea” of Paris and the “ghetto des riches” (“ghetto for the rich”), the 16th arrondissement has been home to some of the country’s most loaded stars including actress Brigitte Bardot and singer Jane Birkin.
Described as “truly incredible”, the property apparently has a view over the Seine River and an old-fashioned lattice balcony.
Needless to say, the revelation, printed on Thursday, has been greeted with excitement by the French press, who have wasted no time in speculating what the star might get up to in the city.
“A French girlfriend?” wonders celebrity gossip website Staragora.com. “It’s certain that as soon as they know the exact address, certain One Directioners will gather under the windows to see the handsome Harry Styles. Above all girls who nurse the sweet desire to be the young singer’s next girlfriend.”
And if the British tabloid’s predictions are correct the pop star will have no trouble making friends as he apparently “can already speak French”.
In fact, says the paper, Styles recently spent an hour charming female French fans waiting outside his hotel room during a recent trip to the capital.
But Paris’s female population is not the only thing drawing the star to the city, it seems.
“Harry absolutely loves Paris as it’s so romantic and old world,” an insider source told the tabloid. “He loves the art, music and culture of the city. It perfectly matches his personality and style.
“He thinks his new bolthole in Paris will be an ideal place for him and his family to spend time on holiday or for work commitments."
