Norwegian priest plans card payments in church services

A priest in Norway is considering taking card payments during collection as a shortage of cash in Norwegian congregations' pockets is starving the church of funds.

"So far we have not found a technical solution which is good enough," Knut Zakariassen, a minister in the town of Larvik told the local Østlands-Posten newspaper. "We can't have a machine on the altar where you enter the amount and wait for confirmation." 
 
Instead, the church is considering taking payments at the back of the church or during a special prayer walk during the service.
