Summer on hold as Swedes brace for storms
Sweden's weather agency has put out a warning for stormy weather on Tuesday, as a low-pressure system from the south looks set to spoil any summer activities for a few days. A low-pressure system from Poland is predicted to cause thunderstorms and strong winds, particularly in Gotland, an island off Sweden's east coast, but also on Öland and across Svealand. Stockholm itself could also be hit.
"We know that the storm is coming but we don't know which path it will take and it is hard to determine the strength of it," Martin Hedmerg, meteorologist on Klart.nu, told the Aftonbladet newspaper.

SMHI, the official Swedish weather agency, issued a class one warning predicting 50 millimetres of rainfall and strong winds in Gotland, Öland and Svealand.
"There may be some minor flooding and disrupted societal functions such as in the sewers, and traffic disruptions," Sofia Söderberg, meteorologist at SMHI, told the newspaper.
Those planning to take boat trips in the area have been especially warned, as the winds will ensure dangerous conditions on the water.
The storm is likely to wear off some time on Thursday, when summer will return to Sweden and temperatures will rise as high as 30C.
