Bed sheet thief breaks foot in failed get-away

A Malmö thief's attempt at a cinematic exit from the fifth-floor apartment window of his octogenarian victim, by using her bed sheets as a rope, led only to a broken foot and the police finding the suspect in the emergency room.
The victim, a woman in her eighties who lives alone, was not injured in the robbery. She did, however, call an ambulance to get someone to attend to her thief encounter.
"The woman called for an ambulance saying she was hurt, and when the ambulance picked her up the suspect was probably still in the apartment," Malmö police spokesman Hans Nilsson told the TT news agency.
The suspected thief was later intercepted by the police at the hospital in nearby Lund.
