Italian woman sells ex's Ferrari 'for revenge'
A 63-year-old businessman from Padua, northern Italy, was left smarting after his ex-lover sold his beloved vintage Ferrari without his permission.
Revenge is sweet – or so the saying goes. But this is surely an understatement in the case of a woman in Padua who apparently sold her ex-boyfriend’s Ferrari to get her own back. The owner had made the catastrophic mistake of registering the vintage car in his lover’s name for tax purposes.
According to regional daily Il Gazzettino Nordest, the woman, identified only as M.D., had taken advantage of her former lover’s absence while on a business trip to sell the car.
However, the 55-year-old doctor from Friuli, north-eastern Italy, had failed to take into account that her ex-lover, identified as C.P. was still in possession of the original certificate of ownership. He also had a document that the woman had herself signed stating him to be the “single and exclusive owner of the car who had paid the entire purchase price”.
The paper reports that a civil court has now ordered the woman to reimburse her ex-lover for the cost of the car as well as pay €5,000 in damages and the expenses incurred by court proceedings.
The businessman had reportedly purchased the Ferrari F106 AS in 1997 for 68 million lire (around €35,000), to be paid in instalments. In May 2000 he had then signed the second-hand car over to his lover for tax reasons.
