Foreigners who arrive in Sweden with a university degree can find it tough to find a job that matches their education from back home. The Local talks with Josefin Edström, an expert in employment issues for foreign degree holders, to learn the top tips for a smooth transition.

Foreign professionals who don't have a job lined up before they arrive in Sweden are often faced with a wall of questions. How do I get started? Who should I talk to? Do I need to learn Swedish?

With a lot of the most useful information only available in Swedish, it can be tricky to even know where to turn for help.

"When it comes to finding work, it's a different story for many different career paths. Engineers and architects, for example, need to use different channels and write their CV in completely different ways," Josefin Edström, a researcher with white-collar union Saco, tells The Local.

But when it comes to general help and support in shifting your Swedish job search into high gear, Edström has a number of tips that can be helpful for almost anyone when it comes to getting started.
