Princess Madeleine 'not nervous' about wedding

Sweden's Princess Madeleine is "less nervous than she thought" about her impending walk down the aisle at Stockholm's Storkyrka church to wed US financier Chris O'Neill.

In an exclusive interview with the Metro newspaper, she said she was less stressed than she had anticipated.

"I thought I'd be much more nervous and stressed but I'm not, I am just very much looking forward to our big day," she said.

"I'm hoping for a beautiful day with nice weather, which I assume all brides-to-be hope for. I'd be very happy if we could show up Stockholm at its best!"

The princess said the couple would remain in New York for the time being.

In the run-up to the June 8th nuptials, the princess, the youngest of the king and queen's three children, is also planning an event at the Stockholm theme park Gröna Lund for the charity she works with. Alongside her mother, Queen Silvia, Madeleine works for the organization Childhood, which funds projects to promote the well-being of children.

The princess said she remained passionately committed to working with children and teenagers but said it was tough that funds were not adequate to support all the projects they would like.

"The most important thing, I think, is to work with preventative work. There is a lot we can do to make sure children are supported and don't run the risk of harm. To make sure children have a loving and safe childhood, that's where my passion lies."

The princess said she would most likely continue working at Childhood even after Queen Silvia retires.
