Ex-Pope's shoes kick up storm in Granada
The famous red leather shoes favoured by retired Pope Benedict XVI have found their final resting place in a Granada museum.
The bling footwear is now on display at Granada's Casa de los Pisa, reported Spain's Cadena SER radio station on Tuesday.
Benedict XVI wore the eye-catching shoes handcrafted by Italian designer Adriano Stefanelli in the final years of his papacy.
At the end of his time in the Vatican's top job, Benedict XVI made a personal offering of the shoes to the director of the Vatican pharmacy, Brother Rafael Cenizo of the Order of St John of the Cross.
That order has been charged with looking after the Vatican's pharmacy and the health of the popes since 1874.
The ex-Pope's offering was a token of thanks and a recognition of all the work done by the monk.
Thanks to the brother, these hand-crafted shoes will from now on be displayed at Granada's La Casa de los Pisa.
This museum archive of the Order of St John, or the Museo Archivo S.Juan de Dios as it is known in Spanish, has a massive collection of documents of great value.
They also have a large collection of artworks.
Last year the museum welcomed nearly 40,000 visitors, up 40 percent from 2011.
